Cool Free XP Macro Maker
I had this problem where my monitor was always blinking when I boot up. The cause of the problem is my KVM switch. To fix it a had to change my refresh rate and then change it back. I finally got tired of doing this and downloaded AutoHotkey. You start the program them hit “record”. I did my "refresh rate" routine with the mouse and then hit “stop”. After that I opened the macho text file with notepad and added a delay at the beginning. Finally, I used the AutoHotkey "exe" converter and converted my script into an executable file. Too Cool! I also looked at the help and learned that it's a full fledged macro language if you want to do more than point and click. Now I have a handy automatic refresh rate changer in my “Startup” folder.

has a pretty cool tip on changing a .bat or .vbs file into a .exe file with only using Windows built in utilities.

Embed Odeo Players
powered by ODEO
I just found out that you can embed these cool players into your site from Odeo (a podcast portal). The cool thing was that Odeo only gave me to code for Code Monkey (above). I found the mp3 URL on Jonathan Coulton's blog for Skullcrucher Mountain and pasted it into the mp3 section of the same code and made my own (below). So, you can make one for pretty much any auto blog, Podcast, or online mp3 as long as you know the URL. In other words you use the Odeo code but the content does not need to be listed in Odeo.

Talk Pirate Day!
"You've read about it in Dave Barry's column. Maybe you caught one of our radio or TV interviews. Or maybe you just stumbled on to our site while googling around for sites your mother probably wouldn't approve of. Perhaps you're one of the millions of people from South Africa to Australia, from New York to the Pacific Northwest, who party like pirates every September 19th.
However you got here, stick around an' learn all about September 19 - International Talk Like A Pirate Day!"

Quick Online Spell Checker
"This little application lets you spell correct from any system or computer that has Internet access. It partially uses the Google spell checker and Aspell. Probably the best spell checkers around! The code is free, you can use it in your own web applications. In the future you may need to spell check some text, why not bookmark this service?"

Free Audio Books
My iPod started out as a music player and has now ended up being used exclusively for podcasts and audio books. I've already posted one of my favorite podcasts. I have started listening to free public domain audio books. I get these through iTunes or directly through that web site at librivox.org. They are free because they are "classic". It's a good way to catch up.

Search audio and video
Today I discovered a new search site called Podzinger. As you can tell from the name this site has something to do with podcasts. You don't need to be a podcast listener to use this site. What Podzinger does is search both audio and video podcasts. The cool thing about Podzinger is the technology that it uses. It actually listens to all of the podcasts and then does a voice recognition index on them. When you do a search you get a list of hits and some text that has been recognized. You then click on the word exactly where you want to start listening. I did a search and no one was talking about me in any podcasts but I did find some interesting comments about Abraham Lincoln.

No One Cares
I couldn't decide if I should go with this shirt or with the "Nobody reads my blog" shirt. I feel like that Seinfeld episode where Cosmo Kramer holds a talk show in his apartment with no audience.
To tell the truth, I don't think anyone really reads blogs. They are only useful for a group a contributors to share sites and interests. At least, this is what I'm telling myself.
Daikaiju - Rock / Psychedelic / Surf
I was at the site for my favorite Podcast today (Escape Pod). It's a Science Fiction Podcast Magazine where they read original Science Fiction short stories. The site also allows you to listen to old episodes thru your browser.
Escape Pod uses a group called Daikaiju (die-kie-joo) as it's sound track. I finally looked their site up. The Daikaiju site allows you to to listen to several of their complete tracks. You can also listen to more tracks at their My Space Site: www.myspace.com/daikaiju.
"All reverb guitar action full on, GO!!!"
It's sort of Godzilla meets surf rock. This may be the new soundtrack that runs in my head all day long.

Personal Home Page
I recently started using Protopage for my personal home page. I don’t really need a personal home page but that’s beside the point. I was looking for a page service that met two requirements. First, I wanted to be able to quickly record my favorite links on a page where I could get to them from anywhere (like del.icio.us). Second, I wanted a page that could be viewed by others. Protopage meets this second requirement very well.
The easy hyperlinks posting took a little tweaking.
Just select this bookmark when you are viewing the page link that you want pusted on your Protopage.
I also found that Protopage will allow you to add multiple pages and have some secured. They are adding Wigets and features all the time. Give it a try….

Clueless Dancer
Keeping Organized
The site will also RSS or email you changes to your lists. I don't use these features. I just like the idea of being able to click a icon (or bookmark) from any computer and quickly add somthing that I don't want to forget.
